Covering Bollywood and the Hindi Cinema

As a channel I really admire NDTV and feel it is one of the very few news channels in India who have managed to retain their integrity and are not influenced by just TRPs. However their almost non-stop coverage of Karan Johar's KANK always left me puzzled and now we finally know the reason why! Looks like NDTV and KJ share quite a cordial relationship which now is turning into a business deal!

Both have tied up to launch a new entertainment channel where "Johar and Dharma Productions will work exclusively with NDTV to achieve new levels of excellence in entertainment programming. Karan will help originate concepts and new programming ideas and will be an ambassador for the NDTV entertainment brand,"

Speaking on the new alliance, NDTV chairman Prannoy Roy said: "We have enormous respect for Karan's brilliance and creativity...he is constantly breaking new ground in quality and transforming Indian movies to world class standards. We know he will now help us to redefine and set new benchmarks in entertainment television."

As long as we are not subjected to Karan Johar and his movies on NDTV 24/7 and Profit, I can live with this alliance!
