Karishma Upadhyay : How does it feel to be the numero uno actor?
Akshay Kumar: Well it’s great and it’s lonely, so I don’t want to be here much, I just want to be in the industry and that’s what I am looking for. But it’s a great feeling that my films are doing well and I am enjoying it. Yesterday (Friday, Dec 21 – release of ‘Welcome’) was great when I came to know that the movie had taken a huge opening.
Karishma Upadhyay : Despite the Multiplex controversy, the movie got a good opening?
Akshay Kumar: Ya, though the problem got resolved on Friday night and the movie will be released on Saturday (Dec 22). I am enjoying my success. After three hits this year, I am hoping that this would be the fourth one.
Karishma Upadhyay : What is the truth behind the talks about your pay package?
Akshay Kumar: I get to know about my pay package from the media itself. It’s all rumours. Today, the budget for making a movie is in the range of Rs 30 crore to Rs 40 crore. And, If I only take Rs 40 crore, then it implies that the movie is made on a measly budget of Rs 1 crore. Then I think, they are not paying anybody, not even the cameraman. It’s all crap.
Karishma Upadhyay : Your movies are doing good at the Box Office, however, they don’t go down too well with the critics?
Akshay Kumar: Well, I prefer gold at the Box Office rather than bronze statue. So, I go with what I like, i.e. the Gold at the Box Office.
