Sanjay Leela Bhansali is already planning his next project and the director is all set to remake his own film! Khamoshi, which was Bhansali’s first directorial venture,  garnered a lot of critical acclaim however failed to set the box office on far. Now Sanjay wants to correct his mistake and remake it.  

As a fan of the original, I cannot fathom anyone else doing justice to Manisha Koirala, Seema Biswas  and Nana Patekar performances. The movie was brilliant and sans any melodrama, which Bhansali is now famous for.
“I want to remake Khamoshi. I had made it too much ahead of its time, so it didn't work then. I feel it will work now, in today's times.”

According to the filmmaker, besides the quietness of Khamoshi, audiences then couldn't digest the theme of parental jealousy. “The film tells the story of a girl who's trapped in her parental world. Her parents need her, so they don't want to let her go,” he says. “Now, with more different themes showing up in films, it may go down better.”

Why does he need to remake an old film, his debut film, when he can move on - after five films. “I have to make Khamoshi again because it's about me, my inhibitions and close to my heart,” he replies. “When I used to assist Vidhu Vinod Chopra, he used to keep telling me, 'Tu bol, kuch toh bol'. He used to hit me and make me speak. He used to say that distributors will not 'guess' that I have good ideas, I'd need to sell my ideas, for which I'd need to speak.”
