“He had total faith in Ramu’s handling of his villainous character modeled on Sholay’s Gabbar Singh. The ageing super star had very rarely experimented into playing negative characters in films and had high hopes from Ramu who had extracted fabulous work from him in Sarkar (2005) and Nishabd (2007). But what transpired on screen was not what Bachchan had expected. It was not only just his role but the overall film as well, which appeared far from a fitting homage to a timeless masterpiece,” says a source.
“We could see him visibly upset and at times even shaking his head in annoyance but not speaking a word about it. Perhaps the attention he attracted while even watching the film stopped him from doing so. As the show ended, he quickly left without exchanging pleasantries or offering reactions to anyone. The peeved expression on his face said it all,” the source continues.
