Covering Bollywood and the Hindi Cinema

Warner Bros has finally made its foray into production in India and there first venture will be Ramesh Sippy’s Made in China. The movie will  be directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Mukesh Talreja and Rohan Sippy, starring Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. Major chunks of the film will be shot in China and Warner Bros will finance the entire movie.

Akshay Kumar will be play a simple cook from Mumbai in China and the movie chronicles his escapades in the city of Shanghai.

“We are excited and proud to be working with such respected partners as Ramesh Sippy and Mukesh Talreja, as this production has outstanding talent associated with it,” said Blaise Fernandes, country manager, Warner Bros. Entertainment India. “We’ll count on our partners’ expertise and will do everything in our power to make a well-crafted, popular and successful Indian film,” he added.

 “It’s the first deal that Warner has done with any Indian producer or actor and I am very proud to be part of this $12 million project. I am back in the action genre after a gap of six years and I am sure with Warner’s help, the action sequences will be taken to a different level. Also, it’s a first for me to shoot in China, says Akshay.
