Contrary to popular belief, Aishwarya Rai didn’t refuse Karan Johar’s next film on the basis that her role was “too bold”. In fact Karan himself confirms this by saying:

"Ash is a wonderful friend. The Bachchan family is like a family to me, and since she's married to Abhishek, she is family too. She did turn down the role, but not because it was a bold role. She took a decision and when she explained it to me, I totally understood her issue and I completely respect her decision. When you watch the movie, you will know why she has turned down the role. Now, it is too early to talk about it, but when you watch the film next year, you will know what I mean."
