"I Am Not Married To A Tree"- Aishwarya Rai First Full Interview Post-Marriage
Mumbai Mirror got a full length interview of the Bachchan Bahu Aishwarya post marriage. Here are some excerpts.

You took a major decision in your life some time back. Now tell us about youre381.jpg life, post-marriage.

(Laughs) Yes, I took a very important step in life and a very beautiful step too. I'm very, very glad about it. I feel blessed, I think it's wonderful to be married to your best friend. There is immense love and respect. I have the most wonderful father-in-law and mother-in-law, who treat me like their daughter.

Q. And what kind of a husband is Abhishek?

Arre, if I start on that, we'll have to get onto an autobiography… there are too many details involved. In short, I'm in a happy place.

Q. Now will you be doing more films with Abhishek, more often?

It's a good thing if we get to work together. Time is precious and we actors always have hectic schedules. Abhishek and I have done many films together in the past and he has been a wonderful co-star. As a colleague, it was always fun to work with him. Professionally, too, it is always exciting working with actors who are inspired. Personally, too, it will be great to work with my husband as we will get to spend more time with each other.

Q. Both of you broke many hearts.

(Giggles) Going by the emails and letters, people are happy for us. We saw so much happiness, both among men as well as women, people have almost congratulated us as we were family to them. Over the years I have enjoyed immense love from my audience. So has Abhishek, because of Amitji and Jayaji's interaction with the audience. And now when we have come together, we are receiving beautiful vibes. So contrary to what is assumed, our marriage hasn't broken hearts. We can feel it.

Q. There were many controversies surrounding the Bachchans these days. Probably many people from the industry wanted to get invited for the wedding, but weren't….

We regard our wedding a very personal experience. The truth is that dadima (Teji Bachchan) is in the hospital, everyone knows that. Given the circumstances, obviously we didn't want an ostentatious wedding. It's a very fragile time which didn't allow us to make big plans. Amitji had very clearly said this.and we as children support and respect him for that. We couldn't have got into that kind of preparation, it would have become really huge. It had to be all or none, there was nothing in between, going by the number of people we know individually or together. Even the relatives invited were limited. But we know that we have the good wishes of people and we are thankful for it. I have started shooting again and I can see that the warmth is still there.  We do hope that in future, during a festival or our anniversary, we will have a larger celebration. The family has always partied and will continue to do so.

As far as misunderstandings are concerned it is really unfortunate that too many assumptions were made, there were many false rumours and loose talk. Perhaps we will feel the need to clarify some things some time. For instance, I'm married to Abhishek, not to a tree.

Q. Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar 2 probably will be the first film in which we will see you, Mr Bachchan and Abhishek together for the first time in full-fledged roles. There is already a lot of curiosity surrounding the film.

As a viewer, I enjoyed Sarkar. Ramu's films are real, there's a lot of detailing in them. He goes into the character's mind through the actor. He always attempts, explores and experiments different things and is never worried whether it will work at the box-office or not. We have met and spoken before, and I have always wanted to work with him. Now I am getting this opportunity with Sarkar 2 and I'm really excited, since my character is also very interesting.

Q. Is there any strategy that you will follow in your career now, the choice of cinema or approach that you would like to take?

I do selective work. With great difficulty I have accepted four films in a year. There is just that much you can do. But I will do selective work so that I have more time for other things in life.  As for the pace of life after marriage, it's more hectic now. Right now, I am going with the flow, time and tide will decide what I do in future. So my strategy remains the same, there is no change post-marriage. No different soch, vichar. There was a time when my parents, my family needed me and I was there for them. Likewise today, I'm there for my husband and his family. In future obviously there will be children, and then I will plan my time accordingly. I will continue working.
