The inimitable Shabana Azmi has just been awarded the prestigious International Gandhi Peace Prize and is now in the company of Nelson Mandela and Coretta Scott Young.

"I'm quite honored," Shabana told IANS from Jaipur. "I believe they had me in mind for this award for some time in recognition of my work with slum dwellers."

Shabana will attend the ceremony in London with husband Javed Akhtar.

"It will be given to me at the House of Lords in London on October 26. And I won't have Javed miss this moment in my life for the world," said Shabana.
