Farah Khan, jewelry designer: “These protestors need to get a life. Have they forgotten we are the land of the Kamasutra which taught the art of sex? This is a democratic country where every individual has a right to express their feelings. If people are offended by such gestures, they should go live in Afghanistan with the Taliban.
Arti Surendranath, ad and film-maker: “I’ve met Richard Gere many times and he has never behaved in such a manner. It was obviously a spur of the moment gesture. Unfortunately, Shilpa will have to bear the consequences. Some people just need a reason to react. Shilpa has been gracious with the way she’s handling the situation.
Haseena Jethmalani, fashion designer: “I wish I was Shilpa Shetty for that second! But seriously, it’s absurd – there are so many serious issues that need to be dealt with in our country like little kids getting raped and mutilated and these people are protesting Richard Gere kissing Shilpa in public!”
Shaina NC, politician/designer: “I definitely think a big deal is being made of the kiss, especially since the whole thing looked impromptu. At the same time, I think it is frivilous to have an AIDS awareness function and have something as non-serious as the kiss take place there.”

This is being made a big issue. These so called Hindu pandits are making such a big issue out of this small gesture. I am sure the people who are protesting are having secret wives and God know what else they do. India had other major issues on which the protestors should concentrate. Arey kya hoga Bharat ka who make small issues so big!
