Covering Bollywood and the Hindi Cinema

With every other person with a video camera doing a remake of Sholay (okay slight exaggeration on my part), this news doesn't surprise me! A producer from Madhya Pradesh’s Malwa region is also remaking the Sholay (yawn!) but kahani meain twist hai! This one will be “socially relevant”.

Its called Malwa Ke Sholay (how imaginative) and in Shalindra Sen's version the villain Gabbar will fall in love Basanti, who is forced to submit to his advances. After that she is deemed impure and not accepted back in society!

“Indian society from the epic age of Ramayan, has never accepted back women if they happen to spend one night away from home.”

Poor Gabbar feels bad and wants to reform himself for Basanti! Some one please pass the smelling salts before I faint!
