“When Amitabh Bachchan heard that the film was based on Utpal Dutt’s Bengali play, he immediately agreed to work on this project,” says producer Arindam Choudhuri from Planman Motion Pictures.
Mr Bachchan has been very attached to Bengal and its literature. He appreciated the kind of experimental plays that Utpal Dutt directed. Jayaji kept him informed about the plays, because she was from FTII and loved watching plays,” says Arindam.
Bachchan was the first choice for the role of Shakespeare’s King Lear. “We couldn’t think of any other actor, but Mr Bachchan for this role. A baritone and a towering personality make him the perfect choice,” says Choudhuri.

i think Amitabh Bachchan has a vast capablity to play the roles like in 'THE LAST LEAR' and at this age he acts various roles which match his personality and satisfied his soul.
