Good news for Bollywood, looks like Pakistani film exhibitors have filed a petition in the Sindh High Court asking for permission to import and screen Indian films in film theaters which they think is vital for business.
Amicus curiae Qazi Faez Isa said that almost 900 cinemas across Pakistan have
been shut down as Bollywood is a much bigger draw than Pakistani films.
"The industry is in dire straits and the court can take judicial notice of the consequences of an unreasonable ban. When all manner of Indian films are aired on cable, even Pakistani TV channels earn no taxes earned and no jobs are created. Pirated videocassettes and CDs of Indian films infringe intellectual property rights without yielding any corresponding benefit" said Qazi Faez Isa.
Hope the Pakistani Govt finally comes to its senses!
