Ravi Chopra's Mahabharata 6 Hour Long!

Those who always accuse of Bollywood not thinking out of the box should now eat their words! While I agree our films are not as varied as say Hollywood, but in the past few years or so Indian Film-Makers have been seen taking the unbeaten path. Two main reasons for this change is the growing Multi-Complex Phenomena

and also the Corporatization of Bollywood.

Another upcoming venture which caught our attention, is B.R Chopra's Mahabharata which will have a mind-boggling budget of 1.25 billion Indian Rupees. If you thought Indian Films with their standard 3 hour length were too long, then wait till you find out that this Mahabharata will be 6 hours long!

Ravi Chopra from BR Film was heard saying, "Yes, I am making a six hour long feature film on Mahabharat. It will be unjust to tell the most beautiful story of the world in three hours. Hence I have planned to make a six hour film that will be divided into two parts. The first part will end with the Draupadi Cheerharan scene."

He further adds, "The two parts of the film will be released on consecutive Fridays. I want to maintain the continuity so it makes no sense to release the second part after two or three months."
