Top 5 Rain Songs In Bollywood
Who doesn’t love Lists? By that I don’t mean those To-Do Lists (though I’m a sucker for those too) but lists like Top 5 Songs or Top 10 Bollywood movies. They are fun, they are engrossing and are even informative! That’s why this whole month I will try to post Bollywood related lists and would love it if you guys also suggest some topics! I am going to start with Top 5 Rain Songs in Bollywood.

Rain has shri4202.jpg
been imperative in representing myriad of emotions in Bollywood and in India there is a certain romanticism associated with monsoons. Some of the most passionate and sensuous numbers have been picturized in rain and let’s look at my favourites:

Pyar Hua Iqrar Hua (Shri 420) - This one is a classic in every sense and one of the most romantic songs ever to be produceD in Bollywood. No skin show, no kisses just two people in love singing under an umbrella. The late Raj Kapoor and his muse Nargis shared incredible chemistry and the song is living proof of it.

Kaante Nahi Katte (Mr India) - If Pyar Hua.. was all about tenderness, this one was all about oomph! The whole nation was stunned to see Sridevi donning a Blue Chiffon Saree and seducing the Invisible Mr India! The Saree has never been the same again thanks to Sridevi’s temptress act and this song by many is considered the epitome of sensuality.

Rimjhim Rimjhim (1942, A Love Story) - A beautiful song  picturized on beautiful actors in beautiful locales! This one is a tad reminiscent of Pyar Hua.. as two young people are expressing their love without being aware of the volatile environment around them.

Roop Tera Mastana (Aradhana) - The suave Rajesh Khanna seducing the stunning Sharmila Tagore in this 60’s classic left the whole nation panting for more. This song remains one of the catchiest numbers ever and can still be heard in numerous nightclubs!

Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si (Chalti Ka Nam Gaadi) – Remember Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl? Well think that but in an Indian setting and instead of Joel we have the inimitable Kishore Kumar as the mechanic trying to flirt with the beautiful Madhubala clad in a wet Saree. Of course the movie was made in the Fifties so it’s not like we were “inspired” by Joel! The song like the movie is a classic!
