Lage Raho Munnbhai has embroiled itself in an usual controversy. The producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra has declared war on multiplexes and refuses to release his movie. This is pretty risky some say as most urban audience prefer going to multiplexes and watching movies with their families. However multiplexes have increasingly tried to monopolize the film market and are guilty of selling their tickets at exorbitant prices. This
is what Chopra had to say:
“The efforts, money and time invested in making the film are all mine. The multiplexes are exempted from paying taxes, they charge the consumer up to 200 rupees per ticket and yet they walk away with the larger share of revenues. My point is very simple; give us a fair deal and then play our films.
“This is a matter of principles and I shall hold my ground no matter what. It is important to fight for what one believes in. One may win or lose, but it’s important to know that you continue to fight for your principles.”
