Covering Bollywood and the Hindi Cinema

Shabana Azmi was in the news recently for her very chic short haircut which is for her new crossover movie "The Contest". Personally I look forward to all Shabana’s film but in all honesty I am not too fond of the term Crossover as some really senseless cinema is fed to us in the name of “crossover”. Anyways here are some excerpts from an interview which is on the website Msn.

"I've a delightful part in the film. I play this flighty socialite,"                                             

"The director is a very talented newcomer Manish Acharya. It is a comedy. Manish is an NYU graduate. I think he is as talented as Farhan Akhtar. He can talk for hours about global cinema and knows every Amitabh Bachchan starrer and every Javed Akhtar dialogue by heart."

"Manish is an insanely talented filmmaker. Would you believe he was a hotshot executive in an American company and was offered obscene amounts of money to join an Indian company"?

"But he told his wife, 'If I continue doing this I'll never have the courage to make a film.' She is a very good painter. She agreed to support him while he went away to NYU and performed very well there."
