It was an ambitious project and from the very beginning piqued the Indian interest, since we love our Bollywood as much as we love our politics. The untitled film about the life and trials of Congress president Sonia Gandhi has now run in to trouble waters. News is just pouring in that the Congress party has served a notice to film-maker Jagmohan Mundhra which threatens legal action! According to Abhishek Singhvi, a party member and a senior advocate of the Supreme Court, the party does not approve or support the film as no proper authorization has been sought. Action would be taken against Mundhra, producer Sunanda Murli Manohar and Rasheed Kidwai if they continue this project.
If you jog your memory a little the movie has always been in news not only for the volatile subject matter but also because of the casting! It has been reported that Zayed Khan would play Sanjay Gandhi (not really for his acting prowess but because of his sideburns!) and Monica Bellucci or Preity Zinta would essay the role of Sonia Gandhi! The film is based on journalist’s Rasheed Kidwai’s best selling book Sonia – A Biography and a British based company, CEE, has acquired the rights for the film. So what do you think have the audience missed on great movie or the Congress has just saved us from yet another half baked movie!
