The folks at Bollywood are getting innovate by the minutes, well at least when it comes to marketing gimmicks! No longer do they stop at teasers and trailers during the promotion period, infact they have started taking an out of the box approach to marketing which translates into more moolah! The latest trend in the industry is to involve the audience right from the very beginning. Case in point Vishal Bhardwaj and Vinod Chopra who named their movies Omkara and Lage Raho Munnabhai after conducting a nation wide poll!The Khans are too bitten by this bug. Aamir Khan was in news for putting up posters all over Bombay stating “Wanted Actor! A very naughty boy!” Hey btw Aamir on a side note if you want a 20 something cute journalist look no further! But seriously involving the common man is the new mantra in Bollywood and Shah Rukh will also coach a group of girls for his film Chak De. Rang De Basanti was path breaking in many aspects one such being the way it was promoted. They didn’t bother collaborating with the media and went straight to the public by putting up road shows, Q&A interactive sessions and so on. So as I said Bollywood is changing and we are happy about it.
