Bollywood has come a long way. Its metaphorsis from a mom and pop set up to an industry funded by the Underworld to it’s finally going corporate (well almost) has surprised many. Seeking inspiration from their Hollywood counterparts, the industry is all set to welcome a new era where Corporatization is the new mantra and professionalism, accountability and sound business plans are the cornerstones of this changing industry. With the emergence of companies like UTV, Adlabs, Sahara One and Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC)Bollywood makers are waking up and smelling the coffee. No longer are the producers at the mercy of the stars and their tantrums.
In a nutshell the two main reasons behind this emerging trend are Globalization and the Indian Govt. The major breakthrough no doubt in recent years was Bollywood given an Industry Status by the Indian government. The Govt also played its part by reforming taxation laws and giving them access to bank finances. So looks like Bollywood is serious about conquering the local and overseas market and this time they want to do it by the book (well at least most of them!).
Very Interesting Article Miss Tanya. We agree that in this case the efforts of the indian government are quite commendable and the film industry is definately reaching its peak and very soon we will be standing face to face with International Cinema in terms of quality and performance.
Best Regards
