Bollywood is having a ball this year! Unlike last year’s mediocre performance the industry has been successful in churning hit after hit. So the debacle of the past two years is behind them and now wallets (and the egos) are getting fatter by the minute. It was Rang De Basanti which was officially declared the first hit of the year and this path breaking film has already made Eighty Crores worldwide. Made on a budget of about 25 Crores the movie has captured the hearts of Indians all over. Phir Hera Pheri also had a successful run on the BO and made 60 Crores worldwide.
Two more movies which stunned everyone with its record openings were Fanaa and Krrish which have till now raked in 85 and 90 Crores respectively and still running to packed houses (why?). So looks like lady luck is smiling on Bollywood this year and things would only get better with movies like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Don, Dhoom 2 and the Munnabhai sequel round the corner.
Its indeed gr8 news that RDB is making it to the Golden Globes. I hope it doesnt go the way Swades did at the Oscars, a couple of years back, though.
A film as RDB surely deserves much more international recognition, than it has managed to garner already.
