Covering Bollywood and the Hindi Cinema

Sequels are generally associated with our Hollywood cousins but as they say what’s good for the goose is good for the gander too (or something likes that)! The success of Krrish has silenced all the cynics who said that the Indian audiences are just not ready for. On a side note I do hate the condescending attitude, but of course we were not ready for them! Who would be after been subjected to the god-awful Nagina and its sequel in the late eighties. Dude we were seriously traumatized after that!

However on a serious note this year saw not one but two sequels, Krrish and Phir Hera Phera and both have had a successful run at the Box office. According to the latest trade reports Krrish has already raked in a cool 90 Crores worldwide and Phir Hera Pheri has collected 60 Crores in its kitty. So now filmmakers have a new hobby and after remakes it’s the sequel bug catching on in Bollywood. I personally can’t wait to see the sequel of Munnabhai MBBS!
